Order for Family Service: Sunday 20th December 2020

Welcome: Jorgie McInwaine
Advent candle
The fourth candle we light today shines bright like Mary’s willing heart. She thought herself weak, and yet she obeyed, was strong and brave to play her part.
Jesus, we welcome you into our lives, ALL: O come, O come Emmanuel.
Make us brave to share your love, O come, O come Emmanuel.
Hymn: O Little Town of Bethlehem

Lots of things we can do with a present:
Forget about it and leave it unwrapped - Open it but not use it - Enjoy it

It's the same with our relationship with God. God gives us lots of wonderful gifts especially the gift of his presence with us. Sometimes we don’t use those gifts as we should.

Moments silence to say sorry in our hearts for those times that we haven’t valued the gifts that God has given us and have forgotten him and left him out of our lives.

Join in with this prayer in your heart:
Lord Jesus, Thank you for coming to earth to be our Saviour. Please forgive us for the ways that we have rejected you and rebelled against you. Please come into our lives by your Spirit, to be our Saviour and our Lord.T hank you for offering us this wonderful gift of relationship. Amen.

Collect for 4th Sunday in Advent
God our redeemer, who prepared the blessed Virgin Mary  to be the mother of your Son:  Grant that, as she looked for his coming as our saviour, so we may be ready to greet him when he comes again as our judge; who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Hymn: Away in a Manger

Chris and Ross: Talk

How far can you stretch your arms out?
Lord, thank you for travelling the greatest distance ever to come close to us as a
baby at Christmas.
Lord, thank you for the angels who travelled to tell us that we can now have peace
with you for ever.
Lord, thank you for Mary who travelled with Joseph to Bethlehem to show us how to
say 'yes' to you.
Lord, thank you for the wise men who travelled across the desert to remind us to
offer our best to you.
Lord, thank you for the shepherds who travelled over the hills to remind us that
finding you is the most important thing ever.
(By now the two palms should be together in a traditional prayer position)
Lord, thank you for coming so close to us in Jesus that now we only have to ask
you to be with us forever and you will be.
(Separate the palms and go wide again before ending with a noisy clapping together of hands on the Amen)
• Thank you that because of Christmas you are never far away from any one of us,
ever! Amen.

Lord’s Prayer

Hymn: Joy to the World

So May God give you this Christmas joy in your heart, hope in our God, love to forgive, and peace amidst the busyness and may the blessing
